Fire Prevention Week

The National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) has deemed this week (3-9 October) as Fire Prevention Week (FPW). The official theme of this year’s FPW is “Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With”. Please take the time to educate your family members, especially children, of the importance of smoke alarms and what to do in a case of emergency. Smoke alarms are normally battery operated and should be routinely tested to ensure the batteries are charged and the detector is functional. To test smoke alarms, press the test button. If working properly, an alarm should sound. If no alarm sounds, the smoke detector may need new batteries or need to be replaced. Although emphasis is placed on smoke alarms this year, please don’t stop there. Attached are three videos and a short PowerPoint presentation of some common fire related mistakes.
